BRIAN SIMMONS, M.D. is on the active staff of Mercy Medical Center and Aultman Hospital in the Department of Medicine, sub-specialty Cardiology. Dr. Simmons is on the active staff of Massillon Community Hospital and courtesy staff of Union Hospital in Dover, Joel Pomerene Memorial Hospital and Twin City Hospital.
Dr. Simmons holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin. He earned his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine. He served an Internal Medicine residency at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Milwaukee and completed a Cardiology Fellowship in invasive and non-invasive cardiology at Cook County Hospital in Chicago.
Dr. Simmons is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and is also Board Certified in the sub-specialty of Cardiovascular Disease. He is a fellow in the American College of Chest Physicians, the American College of Cardiology and American College of Physicians.
In the mid 1980s-1990s, Dr. Simmons was an active Research Scientist. Dr. Simmons has published more than 70 articles in Medical and Cardiovascular Journals. He previously held academic positions as Assistant Professor of Medicine at The University of Illinois School of Medicine in Chicago and Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. He is currently a Clinical Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine, Director of Cardiology at Massillon Community College, and is an active teacher of medical students and resident physicians.
