He is on the active staff of Massillon Community Hospital, and courtesy staff of Union Hospital in Dover, Joel Pomerene Memorial Hospital and Twin City Hospital.

Dr. Shanmugam graduated from Madras Medical College, India. Dr. Shanmugam completed his training in internal medicine and cardiology at The University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey.

Dr. Shanmugam has special expertise in end stage congestive heart failure and cardiac transplant as a transplant cardiologist.
